Vehicles Affected: Approximately 28,800 Babideal Storm booster car
seats manufactured on Feb. 28, 2019, and sold exclusively at Family Dollar
stores
The Problem: The label attached to the fabric cover may not
have the required safety warnings and instructions, which could lead to misuse
and injury.
The Fix: Babideal manufacturer Dorel China America will provide
a replacement fabric cover that has a compliant warning label in place for
free.
What Owners Should Do: Dorel will begin notifying owners Dec. 9. Owners
can call the car-seat maker at 877-657-9546, the National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit
its website to
learn more. To make sure you’re contacted about recalls, register your car seat.
Dorel China America, Inc. (DCA) is recalling certain Babidéal Storm Booster Car Seats, model BC901BPXL, sold exclusively at Family Dollar Stores. The label attached to the fabric cover may not have the required safety warnings and instructions. As such, these child seats fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 213, "Child Restraint Systems."
Remedy
DCA will notify the registered owners, and will provide a replacement fabric cover that has a compliant warning label in place, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 9, 2019. Owners may contact DCA customer service at 1-877-657-9546 or text 1-812-373-6673.
