Nissan Looks Back at Developing Highways
Charlie Yaeger is 97 years old. He has been driving for more than 80 years. He has driven everything from a Ford Model T to Nissan Maxima to a 1916 Baker Electric.
G-POWER M6 ~ 640 hp. 315 km/h !!!
Fast, Faster, G-POWER:
640 hp and a top speed of 315 km/h for the BMW
M6 – G-POWER is
activating the sporty genes of the BMW luxury coupé
The BMW M6 is already fast when it comes from the
factory. Now
G-POWER makes it even faster. The G-POWER
Bi-Tronik III pushes the factory 560 hp/ 680 Nm to 640 hp/ 777 Nm. 21 inch
G-POWER “SILVERSTONE RS” alloy wheels with MICHELIN Pilot Super Sport tyres in
the dimension 265/30 ZR 21 and 305/25 ZR 21, G-POWER coil-over suspension, Titanium
exhaust system and the G-POWER Ceramic Braking System complete the G-POWER
package for the BMW M6 F13.
G-POWER M6 F13
° 640 hp / 471 kW at
6.000 - 7.000 rpm (+ 80 hp / 59 kW)
° 777 Nm at 1.500 rpm (+ 93 Nm)
° V-max: 315 km/h
° 0-100 km/h: 3,8s
° G-POWER 21’’ forged
wheel set SILVERSTONE RS
° G-POWER Titanium
exhaust system
° G-POWER coil-over
suspension GM6-RS
° G-POWER Ceramic
Braking System
The G-POWER program for the BMW M6 F13 touches all key
components and lets the nifty BMW M6 appear even more sporty and beautiful and makes
it, last but not least, a lot faster. In order to implement this target the
G-POWER engineering department has transferred its experience from the area of
supercharging to the turbocharged BMW 4.4l V8 engine. After all, the ASA
supercharger used for the G-POWER supercharger systems is closely related to
the turbochargers featured by BMW, since both units us a centrifugal compressor
to build up boost.
The basis for the electronic output increase is the fact that G-POWER,
in contrast to the manufacturer, does not use standard software full of
compromises but an individual solution for the engine. Among others, the
parameters for the amount of fuel and the ignition timing are modified
depending on the product variance of the engine. Furthermore the boost level is
moderately increased, as well.
However, gone are the days in which the development of an electronic
power output increase has been finished at this point. G-POWER has made almost
the same invest in time, money and manpower in developing supporting measures
to the power output increase itself, with a particular focus on the
transmission. Based on the competence and knowledge coming from the up to 800
hp strong BMW M5 HURRICANE versions, G-POWER has managed to limit the torque
figures during the shifting process and so reduces the stress for the
transmission. This effort shows the difference in quality of the G-POWER
electronic power output increase when compared to the competition. Just pushing
the output fingers is something many can do; G-POWER is providing a well
balanced, high-quality package for the power output increase of the BMW M6.
In a first step the G-POWER Bi-Tronik III pushes the BMW M6’s standard
output of 560 hp / 680 Nm to a more suitable 640 hp and 777 Nm of torque.
Naturally the performance figures benefit from this output increase, as well.
The figure from stand still to 100 km/h is now just 3,8 seconds and the top
speed is 315 km/h.
Apart from the power output increase itself, G-POWER has taken care of
the sound of the BMW M6 F13, as well. The G-POWER Titanium exhaust system,
incl. Titanium link pipes with resonators starting from the down pipe catalysts,
gives the BMW M6 a deep, throaty sound that turns heads but is at now time
annoying and at the same time saves approx. 12 kg compared to the stock exhaust
system. The G-POWER exhaust system is available with four Titanium or Carbon
Tailpipes with a diameter of 100 mm each.
Concerning the suspension at first one will notice the 21 inch G-POWER
SILVERSTONE RS forged wheels, wrapped with tyres from the G-POWER’s technology
partner MICHELIN in the dimensions 265/30 ZR 21 and 305/25 ZR 21. The double
spokes, typical for the G-POWER design, highlight the elegant design of the new
BMW M6. Further improvement of the road handling is realized through the continuously height-adjustable G-POWER coil-over
suspension GM6-RS with nine selectable settings each for bound and rebound.
Of course the negative acceleration is in the focus of G-POWER, as well.
Even without output increase, the standard braking system may lose brake force
when pushed to the limit, accompanied by a moving braking point, the so called
fading effect. The perfect cure against the fading effect is a G-POWER Braking
System. With its six brake pistons and 420 mm brake disc diameter for the front
axle the G-POWER Braking System enables a substantially higher brake force than
the standard braking system. At the same time, the heat generated due to the
braking process can be dissipated more effectively. The G-POWER brake package
is completed by brake pads with a larger pad area, higher friction rate as well
as metal-coated brake lines. With this set-up, the G-POWER Braking System
always provides maximum brake force and the braking point remains precise in
any case. In addition the G-POWER ceramic braking system reduces the unsprung
mass by 50% percent, compared to a system with steel brake discs. Accordingly
the cornering and road handling is improved significantly.
The
cost for the 21 inch G-POWER SILVERSTONE RS complete wheel set incl. MICHELIN
Pilot Sport tyres in the dimension 265/30 ZR 21 and 305/25 ZR 21 is 8.325,00 €,
the G-POWER coil-over suspension GM6-RS is 2.179,83,00 €, the G-POWER Ceramic
braking system for the front axle is 14.460,50 Euro and the G-POWER Titanium
exhaust system is 5.985,71 €. The output increase with the help of the G-POWER
BI-TRONIK III is 5.200,00 € including the individual adjustment of to the
specific customer car.

Dotz wins AAITF award.
Dotz wins AAITF award
Industry converges on Chinese automotive and tuning
trade fair
The 9th
China International Automotive Aftermarket Industry and Tuning Trade Fair, in
short AAITF, took place in Guangzhou, China, from February 26 – 28. This is
probably the most important tuning trade fair in all of Asia. About 350,000
visitors converged on the 220,000m2 of exhibition space, and Dotz,
the German wheel manufacturer, was one of a total of 6,358 exhibitors, for the
second time this year. And on taking stock, they found it a smashing event
indeed.
At its
inter-group booth in Hall 1.2, organised in conjunction with its partner brand
AEZ, the cult company also presented its new seasonal products. And, needless
to say, it went down very well with its visitors. After Dotz had already won
the AAITF “Most Promising Wheel Brand“ prize in 2012, this year it got the “Best
Supplier of China 4S Store“ award.
It goes
without saying that Dotz also showed the Chinese trade visitors quite a number
of all the highlights its latest portfolio has to offer. In conjunction with a
local tuner, the company had set up a VW
Scirocco in order to present the new Fast Fifteen blaze in 8.5 x19 inches. And it also featured the “Fast
Fifteen red edt. – lake“ colour variant, designed as a special edition for the
“GTI-Treffen am Wörthersee” and cars produced
by the Volkswagen Group on particular.

Four Most Dangerous Hacks You Didn't Know Existed
The 2013 RSA Cryptographer's Conference revealed a number of invasive security attacks computer hackers are using to break into systems today.
Because of the U.S.'s reliance on technology to control everything from our bank accounts to our water infrastructure, hacks can go beyond the digital realm and affect the physical world around it. Former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta says that a properly placed cyber-attack could be equivalent to a digital Pearl Harbor, and hackers are coming up with new methods each day to steal your information and hide their own trail. RT Correspondent Meghan Lopez investigates the four most dangerous types of hacks you didn't know existed.

FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), Rally Mexico after day two.
FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), Rally Mexico
The Ogier factor: Volkswagen leads the Rally Mexico after day two
Wolfsburg (08 March 2013). An outstanding driver at the wheel of competitive technology: the first full day of competition on gravel for the Volkswagen Polo R WRC ended with Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia (F/F) at the top of the overall standings at the Rally Mexico. Ogier won seven special stages and claimed nine of eleven possible top-three results on the longest day of the third round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), which saw the competitors tackle 160.75 kilometres against the clock.
In contrast, Jari-Matti Latvala and Miikka Anttila (FIN/FIN) were struck by incredible misfortune in the second Polo R WRC. Just 300 metres into day two of the rally, the Finnish pair hit a large stone lying in the road just round a blind corner. A broken wishbone meant an early end to the day for Latvala and Anttila. The so-called Rally-2 regulation allows them to rejoin the rally on Saturday, but they will consequently be awarded a 50minute penalty for the stages they did not complete. However, this does give them the opportunity to pick up the bonus points towards the World Championship, which are awarded to the first three drivers in Sunday’s Power Stage.
Quotes, Day Two of the Rally Mexico
Jari-Matti Latvala, Volkswagen Polo R WRC #7
“That was the shortest stage I have ever driven. The dust from the previous car was still in the air, so vision was not great. 300 metres after the start we were rounding a right-hander when we came across a stone the size of a melon right on the racing line. As it was not possible to avoid the stone at the speed we were travelling, I tried to position it centrally between the two front wheels and line it up as well as possible with the underride protection. The impact was not particularly strong, but the stone damaged the right wishbone. It was just unlucky. The rock had probably been pulled out onto the road by one of the cars in front of us. We were obviously very disappointed at first, but I hope that is the end of my run of bad luck. I will start again tomorrow and, as a result of the big time penalty, will view the rally as a test and an opportunity to gain more experience in the Polo R WRC.”
Sébastien Ogier, Volkswagen Polo R WRC #8
“I am obviously very happy with today’s result. The special stages were not easy, with a lot of stones, loose gravel and little grip. The 30 kilometres on ‘El Chocolate’, in particular, were extremely demanding. That made it all the more pleasing that we had built up a small cushion by then. Everyone in the team is delighted that the Polo R WRC appears also to be quick on gravel. However, we have to bear in mind that there is still a very long way to go at this rally, and the toughest stages are still ahead of us.”
Jost Capito, Volkswagen Motorsport Director
“A day of ups and downs for Volkswagen. The good news is that the Polo R WRC is also competitive on gravel and that Sébastien Ogier’s outstanding performance behind the wheel means he leads the rally after over 160 kilometres. We would have liked to have seen how Jari-Matti Latvala faired, but unfortunately he was unlucky today and had to give up after only a few metres. The broken wishbone shows that there is still work to be done on the car. However, this is precisely the kind of thing you experience when a new car
makes its first appearance at a gravel rally.”
And then there were ...... the luxurious working conditions at the Service Park in León. The blistering sun and dusty routes are reserved for the special stages at this incredible rally in Mexico. A unique feature of the Rally Mexico is the Poliforum in Léon, which hosts the only covered Service Park of the entire WRC season. This provides some welcome shade for the teams and the many fans who flock to the Service Park to check out what goes on behind the scenes during a service.
