La campaña "Revolución silenciosa" proyecta el futuro de GMC con su primera pickup totalmente eléctrica

Detroit, Michigan, a 30 de enero de 2020 - GMC presentará la GMC HUMMER EV, trayendo un diseño audaz y una capacidad notable a la categoría de los vehículos eléctricos, durante el gran juego de este fin de semana en un anuncio titulado "Revolución silenciosa".

El spot de televisión contrasta las asombrosas métricas de desempeño de la primera pickup totalmente eléctrica de GMC con el notable silencio, inherente a la operación de un vehículo eléctrico.

La nueva pickup GMC HUMMER EV mostrará el potencial de diseño e ingeniería de la marca GMC e integrará1:

GMC HUMMER EV será develada el 20 de mayo de 2020 y se construirá en Michigan, en la Planta de Ensamble de Detroit-Hamtramck de General Motors2.

El anuncio de televisión durará 30 segundos y está programado para emitirse en Estados Unidos durante el segundo cuarto del partido. El comercial destaca el rendimiento anticipado de la súper pickup totalmente eléctrica de GMC, que generará métricas notables en términos de potencia, torque y aceleración, mientras facilita una increíble capacidad dentro y fuera de la carretera. Todo esto se combina con una significativa reducción de ruido y cero emisiones, propias a la operación de un vehículo eléctrico.

The Year in Numbers: Car Industry Fast-Tracks Safety as New Regulation Looms Leuven, 29 January 2020 Today, Euro NCAP looks back at 2019, one of its busiest-ever years, and forward to the challenges that will come in the years ahead. Fifty-five cars were tested last year, representing 26 different makes of car. Such a high number means that nearly all cars (92 percent) sold in Europe last year carried a valid Euro NCAP rating, giving consumers valuable safety guidance on almost any model they are likely to consider buying. Only three percent of new cars sold have not been rated by Euro NCAP.

And what do the ratings tell us? Around 75 percent of the cars tested last year achieved the top five-star safety rating. To do this against Euro NCAP’s 2019 requirements, they had to be equipped with much of the very latest crash-avoidance technology. Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) for car to car impacts was standard on around 90 percent of cars and optional on a further five percent; AEB to avoid pedestrian collisions was standard-fit on 85 percent of cars; and cyclist-detection, promoted by Euro NCAP only since 2018, was already standard on some 80 percent of the new cars tested. Add to that high rates of fitment of Speed Assistance and Lane Support systems and today’s cars are safer than ever, thanks to Euro NCAP’s initiatives and the car industry’s willingness to rise to the challenge. Indeed, Euro NCAP and the European car market are leading the way, with faster adoption of safety equipment compared to many other parts of the world. As the revised General Safety Regulation (GSR) comes into effect from 2022 onwards, several new safety features will become mandatory. Last year’s results show that many of these technologies are already widely fitted on passenger cars as a result of Euro NCAP’s demanding requirements over the last few years. And it does not stop there: 2020 brings in new tests for crash safety and crash avoidance and, for the first time, for post-crash survival, with cars rewarded for features that allow for safe and rapid rescue of occupants. Euro NCAP will encourage car manufacturers to continue to offer the highest levels of safety to their customers and ensure that consumers can rely on its ratings for the best safety advice. Detroit-Hamtramck será la primera planta de ensamble de GM 100% dedicada a vehículos eléctricos

DETROIT, Michigan, a 27 de enero de 2020.— La visión de General Motors de tener un futuro totalmente eléctrico, es cada vez más clara y va ganando impulso con la inversión de $2.2 mil millones de dólares que realizó en su Planta de Ensamble Detroit – Hamtramck, con el objetivo de producir una variedad de pickups y SUV’s totalmente eléctricas. La primera pickup totalmente eléctrica de GM comenzará a producirse a finales de 2021. Esta será seguida poco tiempo después por Cruise Origin, un vehículo compartido, eléctrico y autónomo presentado por Cruise en San Francisco la semana pasada. Detroit-Hamtramck será la primera planta de ensamble de GM totalmente dedicada a la producción de vehículos eléctricos.

“Gracias a esta inversión, GM está dando un gran paso adelante para hacer que, nuestra visión de tener un futuro totalmente eléctrico, se haga una realidad”, Comentó Mark Reuss, Presidente de General Motors, acompañado de Gretchen Whitmer, Gobernadora de Michigan. “Nuestra pickup eléctrica será la primera de muchas que se crearán en la planta en los próximos años”, concluyó.

Cuando la planta esté operando al 100%, esta inversión habrá generado más de 2,200 empleos de manufactura bien remunerados, en Estados Unidos.

GM también invertirá $800 millones de dólares adicionales en herramientas para proveedores y otros proyectos relacionados con el lanzamiento de las nuevas SUV’s eléctricas.

Desde el otoño de 2018, GM se ha comprometido a invertir más de $ 2.5 mil millones de dólares en Michigan para llevar vehículos eléctricos al mercado a través de inversiones en la Planta de Ensamble de Orion, el laboratorio de baterías de GM en Warren, Brownstown y la inversión directa anunciada hoy en Detroit-Hamtramck.

Los talleres de pintura y carrocerías de la planta y el área de ensamble general recibirán actualizaciones integrales, incluidas nuevas máquinas, transportadores, controles y herramental.

El joint venture entre GMy LG Chem, que está invirtiendo $ 2.3 mil millones de dólares para fabricar celdas de batería en Lordstown, Ohio, suministrará dichas celdas para los vehículos eléctricos fabricados en Detroit-Hamtramck.

Un factor importante detrás de la decisión de GM de comprometerse a este proyecto, fue el apoyo que recibió del estado de Michigan.

Detroit-Hamtramck actualmente opera en un turno de trabajo y produce Cadillac CT6 y Chevrolet Impala. Hay aproximadamente 900 empleados en la planta. Como se confirmó anteriormente, la Planta estará inactiva por varios meses a partir de finales de febrero, a medida que comience la renovación.

La Planta ha producido más de 4 millones de vehículos desde su fundación en 1985.
