VW new 2021 Tiguan R (320 Hp) - Available to order.

Powerful 320 PS Performance version of the successful SUV: new Tiguan R now available to order

– New: Volkswagen is launching the Tiguan as an R version for the first time with a powerful 320 PS1 turbocharged engine. Price in Germany: 56,703.53 euros2

– New all-wheel drive: 4MOTION with R-Performance Torque Vectoring provides enhanced driving dynamics

– Exclusive standard equipment: features such as the premium sport seats developed especially for the Tiguan R and a specific design define the individual character of this sporty SUV

Wolfsburg (D) – Volkswagen is launching the most powerful Tiguan to date: the Tiguan R. With a power output of 235 kW (320 PS), the SUV accelerates to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. Featuring a newly developed all-wheel drive system, the Volkswagen with a top speed of 250 km/h fascinates with outstandingly agile and confident handling. The new Tiguan R combines the dynamic performance of a sports car with the variability of a Sport Utility Vehicle. It is now available to order. Price in Germany: 56,703.532 euros.

The latest generation of the EA888 evo4 – an icon among sporty turbocharged engines (TSI) – is responsible for delivering the SUV’s vehement power. The four-cylinder engine already provides its maximum torque of 420 Nm as low as 2,100 rpm; the TSI maintains this high torque at a constant level up to 5,350 rpm. This power is distributed to four wheels by the new all-wheel drive system: 4MOTION with R-Performance Torque Vectoring. Volkswagen has implemented a rear final drive with two multiplate clutches for the first time. This system does not just distribute the drive power between the front and rear axles, but also distributes it variably between the left and right rear wheels. With the new all-wheel drive system, Volkswagen has noticeably improved handling agility when cornering in particular. With this system the Tiguan R sets a new benchmark for SUV driving dynamics.

The Tiguan flagship was developed by Volkswagen R. The sporty DNA is not just to be found in the turbocharged engine and all-wheel drive system of the Tiguan R, but also in its extensively customised equipment. Taking the exterior as an example: the standard equipment here includes bumpers in R design with aerodynamic elements in high-gloss black or the car body colour, exterior mirror covers in matt chrome, a unique and also high-gloss black rear diffuser, black wheel housing extensions and 20-inch Misano alloy wheels. And in the interior: the Tiguan R sets itself apart from the other models in the product line with features such as the premium sport seats with integrated head restraints and R logo developed exclusively for this model, a customised Digital Cockpit with integrated lap timer, as well as R-specific decorative trim (Carbon Grey). The decorative trim elements are illuminated via the background lighting. Also illuminated: the R logo in the aluminium front sill panel mouldings. The pedals are made of stainless steel.

The extended technical R equipment includes a powerful 18-inch brake system including blue brake calipers (with R logo at the front), a DCC chassis (with adaptively controlled shock absorbers) lowered by 10 mm, and a driving profile selection enhanced for the Tiguan R with an additional R profile. This particularly sporty mode can be activated directly by means of a blue R button on the new multifunction sports steering wheel. This is also equipped with separate large paddles for manual control of the 7-speed DSG dual clutch gearbox (DQ500). The standard equipment also includes deactivatable ESC as well as a four-branch sports exhaust system. Optionally available: a titanium exhaust system from Akrapovič and 21-inch Estoril alloy wheels. The exterior of the Tiguan R can also be personalised with the Black Style design package; in this case, selected add-on parts are finished in black.

The Tiguan is Europe’s most successful SUV

A Tiguan left the production line every 35 seconds last year – a new record for the product line. The story of this bestselling model began in 2007 with its world premiere at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt. Later that year, the first Tiguan came onto the market. In 2011, Volkswagen unveiled a major update at the Geneva Motor Show. By then, 700,000 units of the Tiguan had already been produced. With the new version, the annual volumes passed the mark of 500,000 units for the first time. The IAA in Frankfurt in September 2015 provided the stage for the world premiere of the second Tiguan generation; the sales launch followed in April 2016. The importance of the product line increased further in 2017 with the debut of an XL version with lengthened wheelbase under the name Allspace. In 2019, one in seven of the 6.18 million Volkswagen cars manufactured was a Tiguan – 910,926 vehicles, to be precise. The annual volumes have therefore increased almost eightfold since the first full year of production.

1) Tiguan R 2.0 TSI 4MOTION DSG, 235 kW (320 PS). NEDC fuel consumption in l/100 km: urban 10.2, extra-urban 7.0, combined 8.1; combined CO2 emissions in g/km: 186; efficiency class: D.

2) Manufacturer’s recommended retail price, plus delivery and registration costs. Gross price incl. 16% value added tax. In the case of delivery from 1 January 2021, the value added tax rate applicable then will apply, and this may affect the gross price.

Astronaut Patrick Baudry and Bugatti's pilot Officiel Pierre-Henri Raphanel

Space and the racetrack – two worlds that could not be more different. At least that is how it seems at first glance. However, in a conversation, Patrick Baudry and Pierre-Henri Raphanel discover what they have in common... A video about incredible speeds, extreme conditions and true passion.

Patrick Baudry already dreamed of becoming a pilot at the age of 4. In 1970, this dream came true: he became a fighter pilot in the French Air Force and only ten years later an astronaut candidate for the French space agency CNES. In 1985, he was on board the Discovery (Mission STS-51-G) on its way into space.

Pierre-Henri Raphanel also knew from a very young age that he would one day become a race driver. Between 1986 and 2000 he participated 14 times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in 1985 he won the French Formula 3 Championship and four years later qualified for the Grand Prix of Monaco. In 2010, he broke the world speed record for Bugatti in the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport (268 mph (431.072 km/h)), becoming the fastest series production sports car in the world.

Stephan Winkelmann additionally becomes the new President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A.

Bugatti President will perform dual role in future

Molsheim, 18 November 2020. With effect from 1 December 2020, Bugatti President Stephan Winkelmann will additionally take up the position as President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. on top to his current function. The Bugatti President will therefore have a dual role. “It is both a great honour and pleasure, but also a great challenge for me to manage these two companies, which are very special to me with their exceptional cars,” says Stephan Winkelmann.

Over the last three years, Stephan Winkelmann has successfully initiated and driven forward a number of exciting projects at Bugatti. Never before has Bugatti presented so many different and unique projects in such a short period of time, such as the Divo1, La Voiture Noire2, Centodieci2, Chiron Pur Sport2, Chiron Super Sport 300+2 and Bolide2. Last year Bugatti set a speed record that is still valid. And with the now delivered Divo, Bugatti has also transformed modern coach-building for the 21st century.

Lamborghini is also well-known territory for Stephan Winkelmann: he was President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. in Sant` Agata Bolognese, Italy, for over eleven years up to 2016. In these roles, Winkelmann successfully expanded the brand into one of the world’s leading super sports car manufacturers, and was responsible for making substantial investments in the company’s future. Under his leadership, Lamborghini experienced extremely fast growth: sales were more than doubled, while sales revenue more than tripled. This growth was due to the success of the Lamborghini Aventador and Huracán super sports cars – but even the decision to launch the bestselling Urus was taken under the direction of Stephan Winkelmann. Together with his team, he also realigned sales structures for the future. Stephan Winkelmann will be taking over the responsibilities of Stefano Domenicali, who has decided to leave Lamborghini at his own request after four successful years with the company. He will become the new CEO of Formula 1 from January 2021.

Markus Duesmann, Chairman of the Board of Management at Audi AG: “Stephan Winkelmann has decisively shaped the history of Lamborghini. He represents the Lamborghini brand like only a few, and is exactly the right person to lead this unique brand into a successful future.”

“I would like to thank everyone for the trust they have in my work as well as my team for their support in the past and in the future too. I am really looking forward to my new responsibilities,” explains Stephan Winkelmann. “I have had the privilege to manage both companies separately in recent years, and I can now do this for both together. This is something very close to my heart. Bugatti stands for the most superior, powerful, elegant and luxurious hyper sports cars in the world. Lamborghini builds the most exclusive super sports cars with outstanding design. Both companies still have so much creativity yet to be explored.”

Stephan Winkelmann was born in Berlin in 1964 and grew up in Rome. After passing his A-levels at the German School in Rome, he studied political science in both Rome and Munich. Before Winkelmann took over as head of Lamborghini in 2005, he had been employed by Fiat in various functions, including Chairman of the Board of Management at Fiat Auto Austria, Switzerland and Germany. In March 2016, Winkelmann moved from Lamborghini to quattro GmbH (today Audi Sport GmbH), which he managed in the role of CEO for two years. Winkelmann was appointed President of Bugatti on 1 January 2018, a role which he will continue performing in the described dual role from 1 December.

❗ Consumer Alert: Important Chevrolet Bolt Recall for Fire Risk ❗

bolt

❗ Read for critical vehicle recall information ❗

Owners of select Model Year 2017-2019 Chevrolet Bolt vehicles should park their cars outside and away from homes until their vehicles have been repaired, due to a new recall for the risk of fire.

GM has issued a recall of 50,932 Chevrolet Bolt vehicles for the potential of an unattended fire in the high-voltage battery pack underneath the back seat’s bottom cushion. The affected vehicles’ cell packs have the potential to smoke and ignite internally, which could spread to the rest of the vehicle and cause a structure fire if parked inside a garage or near a house.

These vehicles can catch fire even if they are turned off, parked, and disconnected from a charging unit. NHTSA has confirmed five known fires with two injuries; at least one of the fires spread from the vehicle and ignited a home. Until these recalled vehicles have been repaired, the safest place to park them is outside and away from homes.

NHTSA has an open defect investigation into this issue.  The opening resume for this investigation is available here.

Nuevo Golf R estreno mundial (320 CV)

* Motor TSI que genera 235 kW (320 CV): Golf R acelera a 100 km / h en tan solo 4,7 segundos.

* R-Performance Torque Vectoring: Golf R con nuevo sistema de tracción total de serie.

* Nuevo status quo en términos de dinámica de conducción: tracción total y tren de rodaje estrechamente integrados por primera vez.
